Illinois voters returned to the polls Tuesday to select a new United States senator and all 17 members of the state's congressional delegation. The state's election officials and data partners projected Juliana Stratton as the winner of the Senate race with 60.8% of the vote. Don Tracy finished second with 37.7% of the total. A third candidate, Whitfield Harrington Jr., received 1.5% of the ballots cast.
The Senate contest marked the final major statewide race for Illinois in this cycle. Stratton, who is running for the open seat, secured the victory as 64% of expected votes were tallied. The margin between the top two candidates stood at approximately 23 percentage points. The result was projected by the NBC News Decision Desk based on incoming returns from across the state.
In the House races, the same data partners projected winners in every district as the night progressed. The results show a mix of incumbents retaining their seats and challengers moving forward. For example, Jonathan Jackson won District 1 with 67.4% of the vote against Christian Maxwell. In District 2, Donna Miller took 73% of the vote to defeat Michael Noack. Delia Ramirez carried District 3 with 75.9% of the total.
Northern and central districts also saw decisive outcomes. Mike Quigley won District 5 with 76.4% of the vote. Sean Casten took District 6 with 63.3%. La Shawn Ford secured District 7 with 88.7%, the largest share of any House candidate. Melissa Bean won District 8 with 65.8%, and Daniel Biss took District 9 with 79.3%.
The final projected winner in the state's 10th District was Brad Schneider, who received 70.5% of the vote. Only 14.1% of expected votes had been counted in that specific race at the time of the projection. Bill Foster won District 11 with 68.7%. Mike Bost took District 12 with 70.4%. Nikki Budzinski won District 13 with 60.1%.
Southern and western Illinois results followed a similar pattern. Lauren Underwood won District 14 with 64.1%. Mary Miller took District 15 with 66.1%. Darin LaHood won District 16 with 59.2%. Eric Sorensen secured the 17th District with 59.7% of the vote. These projections covered all 17 House seats in the state as of the latest data update.
