Carson Daly will anchor six days a week for NBC News beginning November 7, a schedule that adds the weekend edition of the network’s morning show to his existing weekday commitments. His first broadcast as co-anchor of Saturday Today is set for the morning of November 7, 2026, where he will appear opposite Laura Jarrett. This arrangement replaces a rotating cast that had filled the slot since Peter Alexander left the program to take an anchor position at MS NOW.

Daly has been part of the NBC family since 2002, appearing in programs such as Last Call and The Voice. His relationship with the Today franchise deepened in 2013 when he began working as a correspondent. He initially covered trending pop culture and social media topics. Over the following years, he became a central member of the weekday anchor team. He will continue to appear on the weekday edition of Today alongside his new Saturday duties. His other professional roles remain unchanged. He will continue to host and serve as an executive producer for The Voice, as well as executive produce The Voice: Celebrity.

Libby Leist, executive vice president of Today and lifestyle at NBC News, confirmed the appointment in a statement. She described Daly as an integral part of the Today family for the past 13 years. Leist noted that viewers will now have Daly for one more day of the week. She stated that Daly and Jarrett make a great team and expressed anticipation for this new chapter of the show. The pairing combines Daly’s background in entertainment and interviewing with Jarrett’s specialty in legal coverage.

The staffing change occurs as NBC reshapes its Saturday lineup. This move mirrors recent adjustments at ABC, where Rachel Scott began co-anchoring Saturday telecasts of Good Morning America on September 12. ABC also assigned Rhiannon Ally to anchor Sunday editions with Gio Benitez. NBC aims to give Saturday Today a distinct identity separate from its Washington-based past. The show previously featured journalists connected to political coverage, including Kristen Welker, who is now the moderator of Meet the Press.

The new format aligns the program with other weekend morning shows that emphasize specific niches. Willie Geist’s Sunday Today focuses on in-depth interviews, while the Saturday edition of CBS Mornings leans into music and food. Joe Fryer will continue as the feature anchor for Saturday Today. Angie Lassman will remain the meteorologist. Daly said he is thrilled to add the weekend show to his schedule. He joked that his children asked if he would still make pancakes. He told them yes, but he would be making them for his new colleagues instead.

Daly’s radio and MTV career provided him with extensive experience as a host and interviewer. NBC News believes this background will pair well with Jarrett’s legal reporting focus. The decision to move the show away from a purely political angle represents a shift in the program’s editorial direction. The first broadcast will air at its regular time slot on November 7. No other changes to the Saturday lineup have been announced.
