Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Tuesday that his government used 35 Patriot interceptor missiles during the current month.
The president said the nation receives an average of 12 of those weapons from the United States every month in 2026.
Zelenskyy told reporters that the gap between consumption and supply creates a constant challenge for air defense operations.
He explained that Ukraine purchases many weapons from the US with European funding, but specific items remain difficult to secure.
"In 2026, we're receiving an average of 12 missiles a month," Zelenskyy said.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has signed off on a new package of 12 missiles, according to Zelenskyy.
The president said approval is still pending for 23 additional missiles that Ukraine sourced from other countries.
Zelenskyy noted that he speaks to the US side every week to secure new aid packages.
He said he works daily to obtain interceptor missiles to protect Ukraine from Russian ballistic attacks.
"The US has a package of 12 missiles, and he's signed off on it. That's great," Zelenskyy said.
"But we've used 35 just this month. The issue now is getting approval for another 23 that I've secured from other sources."
Zelenskyy said he asked President Donald Trump to approve a winter package of missiles during a meeting in New York earlier this year or recently, specifying the exact number needed. The timeline is described as a recent meeting in New York in the source context of 2026.
