Columbus hosts a series of campaign events as the Ohio Senate race enters its final weeks. On October 27, Cure Coffee and Cocktails at 154 N 3rd St. hosted a rally for Senate candidate Sherrod Brown. The venue served as the site for a grassroots gathering aimed at mobilizing local voters ahead of the November election.
Speakers from Brown’s campaign team addressed the crowd. Representatives from various Ohio organizations also took the stage. The Ohio State University African American Voices Gospel Choir provided musical entertainment during the event. These elements combined to create a focused political atmosphere within the downtown coffee shop.
John Legend, a Grammy Award-winning singer from Springfield, Ohio, attended the rally. He was present in the audience and worked behind the scenes to assist Cure Coffee and the Brown team with event logistics. Legend moved through the room, greeting attendees and discussing the upcoming vote. He emphasized the value of local elections and community investment during his interactions.
Following the political rally, Legend remained at the venue for the afternoon. He joined the 45 Alive event, a music program hosted by the coffee shop. He performed live alongside DJ Prime, a vinyl spinner. This musical performance provided a cultural counterpoint to the political messaging earlier in the day.
Voters in Ohio have until November 1 to cast early ballots. The General Election will occur on November 2. Polling stations will remain open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on that date. The Senate race remains closely contested in the state.
