Game 6 of the WNBA Finals is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. ET start on Thursday, October 29. The matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries will take place at State Farm Arena. This decision was announced by the league just hours before the tipoff of Game 5 at the Chase Center. The teams entered the series tied at two games apiece.

The early morning slot for West Coast viewers and the midday slot for East Coast viewers stem from a scheduling conflict. A regular-season NBA game between the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers is also set for State Farm Arena that evening. Officials shifted the NBA game from a 7:00 p.m. start to 8:00 p.m. to allow time for the arena to be converted from a WNBA configuration to an NBA court setup. The WNBA game must conclude before the Hawks warmup begins.

If the Dream or Valkyries clinch the championship in Game 6, the on-court celebration and media availability will be compressed. The source notes that discussions have emerged about moving the title celebration to a nearby practice facility to accommodate the tight turnaround. This logistical squeeze places a unique constraint on a potential championship moment.

The Atlanta Dream typically play home games at the Gateway Center, a venue with a capacity of 3,500 seats. It is the smallest arena in the WNBA. However, the team has utilized the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena for marquee events during the 2026 season. This includes five regular-season games and the first two rounds of the playoffs. State Farm Arena is scheduled to become the Dream's permanent home beginning next season.

Angel Reese, who was traded to Atlanta in April, has been a central figure in the team's recent popularity surge. The Valkyries, in their second year as an expansion franchise, have drawn strong support from their fanbase. The series has been characterized by high stakes for both clubs, with the Dream seeking their first title and the Valkyries aiming to solidify their place in the league.

The league delayed the announcement of the Game 6 venue until the final hours before Game 5. This timing forced both franchises and their supporters to plan around a late-breaking change. The Dream ownership is cited as having initially underestimated the scale of off-court interest and the team's competitive ceiling during the regular season. The WNBA did not mandate specific contingency plans for the Finals scheduling until the issue became apparent.

Previous Finals games in this series required adjustments to accommodate local events and NBA scheduling. Game 3 was moved from October 22 to October 21 to avoid a concert at the venue. Game 4 was moved to a 1:00 p.m. ET start to accommodate the Hawks' home opener against the Houston Rockets. Both of those games sold out. The current scheduling conflict mirrors those earlier challenges but with a tighter timeline for the deciding game.
