National Public Radio released a new set of on-air challenges for its Sunday Puzzle program on November 1. The current round requires participants to identify 13 specific locations within the United States. Each correct answer must be a two-word name of a city, state, river, mountain, or other geographic feature.
The clues provided for this week are designed so that the initial letters of the prompt match the initial letters of the answer. For example, the clue Florida Locale corresponds to the answer Fort Lauderdale. The full list of clues for today's challenge includes Northeast Haven, Pioneers' Pinnacle, Storied Fire, Molten Lava, Oil Capital, Lotsa Vacationers, Newlyweds' Favorite, Dry (very!), Hydroelectric Development, Port Honolulu, Engineered Channel, and Health Spa. A separate three-word answer is required for the clue Minnesota's Sizable Population.
The broadcast also reviewed the previous week's challenge, which asked for two company logos that start with a lowercase letter and contain a capital B. The correct answers were eBay and jetBlue. Deborah Freedman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was named the winner of that segment.
A new challenge is also available for listeners to solve. The task involves finding a three-letter body part and inserting it into a four-letter body part to create a supermarket brand name. Participants must submit their answers by Thursday, November 5, at 3 p.m. ET.
Submissions must include a phone number where the station can reach the caller. Listeners who provide the correct answer are selected for a chance to play the puzzle on-air. The copyright for the segment is held by NPR for the year 2026.
