The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 on Sunday at Ford Field, ending the Vikings' winless streak and narrowing the NFC North gap to one game. The result gave Detroit the head-to-head tiebreaker ahead of their December rematch in Minnesota. The win came after a game that tested the roster's depth, as several starters left the field with injuries that will impact the team's upcoming schedule.

The offensive line and quarterback Jared Goff struggled early against a Vikings defense that blitzed frequently. Goff was sacked four times in the first five drives, and All-Pro center Penei Sewell drew four penalties, including two false starts and two holds. The unit stabilized in the second half, aided by a running game that accumulated 218 yards. Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 153 yards, including a 30-yard score, while Sione Vaki added 65 yards on 11 carries.

Goff managed the drive that secured the win, throwing a touchdown pass to Jameson Williams with under five minutes remaining. He also converted a quarterback sneak on the final play to keep the clock alive. Williams finished with four catches for 70 yards. Amon-Ra St. Brown had seven catches for 46 yards, though a touchdown he caught was overturned after he appeared to fumble while going to the ground.

The defense recorded two sacks against Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray. Skyler Gill-Howard posted his first career solo sack in the first half, and Alim McNeill added another in the third quarter. Aidan Hutchinson forced a turnover on downs in the fourth quarter with a pressure that led to an incompletion. The secondary limited Justin Jefferson to five catches for 33 yards, despite Jefferson scoring on a one-handed catch in the first half.

Injury concerns dominated the fourth quarter for the defense. Jack Campbell suffered a neck injury and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He left on a cart, and Jimmy Rolder also exited the game on the same play. Rolder had recorded his first career sack and five tackles before the injury. DJ Wonnum left in the second quarter with a head injury after colliding with Brian Branch.

Special teams provided mixed results. Jake Bates missed his third field goal attempt of the day, hitting the left upright, after making kicks from 25 and 37 yards earlier. Punter Jack Fox averaged 46.5 yards on four attempts. The Lions will face the Miami Dolphins next before traveling to Munich to play the New England Patriots.
