Five Halloween events are scheduled across Northeast Ohio this weekend, featuring classical music, food trucks, and a rock tribute. The lineup spans Cleveland and Canton with specific start times and admission details for each venue.
The Maltz Performing Arts Center in Cleveland’s University Circle hosts a Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics on Friday at 8:30 p.m. The Listeso String Quartet will perform in a setting lit by thousands of flameless LED candles. The set list pairs horror film themes from Psycho and Halloween with classical works including Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre and Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.
In Canton, the Stark County Fairgrounds hosts a free event called Feast of Ghouls on Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. A couple-dozen food trucks will serve lunch and dinner while a market sells Halloween-themed creations. Free candy is available for children, and a costume contest will select the most terrifying outfit.
The Greater Cleveland Aquarium at Flats West Bank offers an after-hours family event on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Pumpkins and Piranhas allows children to see sharks and piranhas up close in the sea tube. The last admission is at 7 p.m.
The Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Players Guild of Canton present the musical Jekyll & Hyde based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella. Performances are set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Zimmermann Symphony Center and Umstattd Performing Arts Hall. The story has inspired various media adaptations since the 1880s.
Northeast Ohio musicians Jeremy McCabe and Max Schlenk will perform a Frank Zappa retrospective on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the BOP STOP in Hingetown. Titled Schlenk Zappa, the show celebrates the 60th anniversary of The Mothers of Invention’s debut album, Freak Out!, marking more than three decades since Zappa’s death.
