Brysen Wright, ESPN’s No. 1 overall recruit for the 2028 class, announced Thursday that he will commit to Miami and reclassify to play next fall. The decision places the six-foot-four, 215-pound wide receiver ahead of his original enrollment timeline.

Wright chose Miami over finalists Florida and Texas. He is expected to sign with the Hurricanes in December. This move makes him the second-ranked member of head coach Mario Cristobal’s latest recruiting class.

The Jacksonville, Florida, native is a junior at Mandarin High School. He recorded 77 receptions for 1,629 yards and 18 touchdowns over his first two varsity seasons. In the 2027 cycle, he enters as the top-ranked wide receiver and the seventh-best overall prospect on the SC Next ESPN 300.

Sources told ESPN that the career of Malachi Toney influenced Wright’s early commitment. Toney reclassified from the 2026 cycle, led the nation in receptions, and earned first-team All-ACC honors last fall. Wright visited each finalist team this fall, ending his tour with Miami’s 43-35 overtime victory over Florida State on Oct. 17.

Wright is the second five-star pledge in Miami’s 2027 class, following A’mir Sears. The Hurricanes’ class started Thursday at No. 7 in ESPN’s rankings. Along with Wright, the program now holds commitments from Nick Lennear and Eli Woodward, giving Miami three SC Next ESPN 300 wide receivers for the 2027 class.

Miami enters Saturday’s game against Notre Dame as the No. 1 team in the country. The undefeated Hurricanes, who stand at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play, face the No. 11 Fighting Irish in a College Football Playoff matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
