Redfin now displays information on nearby childcare providers directly on its property listings.
The real estate company launched the tool in partnership with Winnie, a national online marketplace for early care and education. The integration became available on Redfin’s mobile applications for iOS and Android at the end of September 2026. Isabelle Novak, a spokesperson for Redfin, confirmed the timeline for the rollout.
Redfin has long shown K-12 school ratings from GreatSchools on its site. The new feature appears alongside that existing data. When a buyer scrolls through a listing, they see a specific option labeled “Preschool & daycare” next to the K-12 section. This change responds to the reality that many families are moving to start or grow households, a trend noted by Daryl Fairweather, chief economist at Redfin.
The tool pulls data from more than 250,000 licensed programs nationwide. It displays up to five nearby options for each home. For each program, the listing shows the ages served and the distance from the property. Buyers can click a provider’s name to view a pop-up with details such as operating hours, address, language, and parent reviews. They can also see a link to the provider’s website and information on financial assistance options.
Sara Mauskopf, CEO and co-founder of Winnie, explained that the platform creates provider profiles using public state licensing databases. Providers can then claim and update their pages. About 25% of the 250,000 provider pages have been claimed so far. Mauskopf noted that active providers frequently update their availability, as open spots can change daily.
If no providers exist within a 10-mile radius of the home, the feature displays a message stating that no programs were found. Mauskopf said this helps families identify “childcare deserts,” where affordable housing might lack nearby care options. She emphasized that knowing these factors upfront prevents last-minute scrambles to secure care after moving.
Mauskopf observed a shift in the industry where providers are increasingly willing to list tuition rates online. She attributed this change to families using AI tools to ask for pricing. While a majority of programs still require tours before sharing costs, the number of providers posting rates publicly is growing.
