Michael Macri defeated incumbent Crystal Meloche by a margin of 40 votes to become the new mayor of LaSalle. Macri received 5,051 votes in the election held on October 27, 2026, while Meloche garnered 5,016. Shaun Dass placed third with 3,197 votes.

Macri pledged to freeze property taxes for 2027 and reevaluate city spending line by line. He stated that voters sought a balance between stability and a new direction. Macri said the administration will restructure its internal operations and create a dedicated economic development team.

Meloche, who served as the city's first female mayor, accepted the narrow loss. She noted that misinformation and negativity influenced the campaign but said the town would be in good hands. Meloche advised her successor to remember that every decision impacts the city's 37,000 residents.

The election results also settled the seats for deputy mayor and council members. Incumbent Michael Akpata retained the deputy mayor position with 6,231 votes. Tory McKay finished second with 4,385 votes, and Simon Jacques received 1,949 votes.

Five candidates won seats on the city council. Mike Seguin received 6,090 votes, Jeff Renaud received 5,894, and Ivana White received 5,893. Brad Krewench won with 5,014 votes, and Anita Riccio-Spagnuolo secured the final seat with 4,778 votes.

City officials plan to release certified results on Tuesday. Macri said the new council will focus on distinguishing between capital expenditures that are wants and those that are needs.

Meloche said she believes things happen for a reason and remains at peace with the outcome. Macri emphasized the need to get a better handle on taxes while maintaining economic development.
