Tracey Bailey secured 8,399 votes in the Monday municipal election, according to unofficial results. She defeated Argo Pace, who received 1,782 votes, and Sam Sinjari, who garnered 1,399 votes.
The victory marks the second term for Bailey, who is currently serving as mayor. She previously held the positions of councillor and deputy mayor. Her campaign emphasized her 12 years of combined experience on the Lakeshore council.
Bailey attributed the decisive margin of victory to resident support for the city's current trajectory. She described the result as a clear mandate to continue the administration's existing policies without delay.
"Under my leadership we’ve seen tremendous investment in Lakeshore. We’ve pulled in around $100 million over the last four years, which is really significant," Bailey said. "We’re ready for shovels in the ground, and we’re going to be moving forward. The benefit here is that we hit the ground running on day one."
Bailey outlined three primary objectives for her new term. She pledged to prioritize infrastructure investment, maintain housing affordability, and develop complete communities to accommodate ongoing growth in the municipality.
